About ToolFlux

ToolFlux is a small, independent project with one simple aim: make the everyday file and text tasks you used to upload to a stranger's server fast, free, and completely private — by doing all of the work inside your own browser.

What we make

ToolFlux is a growing collection of online utilities for working with images, PDFs, and text. You can compress and convert images, change HEIC photos from an iPhone into ordinary JPGs, merge PDF files, turn images into a PDF, generate QR codes, count words, build strong passwords, and convert text between cases. Every tool is designed to do one job well, load quickly, and work on a phone just as comfortably as on a laptop.

Why everything runs in your browser

Most "online" converters and compressors upload your files to a server, process them there, and send the result back. That means a copy of your document — a contract, a scanned ID, a private photo — sits on someone else's computer, at least for a while. ToolFlux works differently. The moment you choose a file, all of the processing happens locally on your device using modern web technology such as the Canvas API, WebAssembly codecs, and Web Workers. Your files never get uploaded, and when you close the tab, nothing is left behind. We think that should be the default, not a premium feature.

Who runs it

ToolFlux is an independent project run by a single developer, not a large company. It was built because privacy-respecting tools that "just work" are surprisingly hard to find, and because the modern web is more than capable of doing this work without a back-end. There are no user accounts, no newsletters you have to dodge, and no dark patterns nudging you toward a paid plan.

Why it is free

The tools are free to use and supported by unobtrusive advertising. Serving static pages costs very little, and ads cover that cost so the tools can stay open to everyone with no sign-up and no paywall. We are committed to keeping advertising tasteful and to never selling, sharing, or even seeing the files you process — because we never receive them in the first place.
